Psychology Students Explore University Life at Middlesex

Year 12 Psychology students enjoyed an excellent Psychology Taster Day at Middlesex University, giving them the opportunity to experience university life and explore psychology beyond the A-level classroom.

The day included a range of interactive activities. Students had the chance to use a real polygraph (lie detector) and explore how biological responses can be measured when people are telling the truth or lying. They also used an EEG machine, watching a fellow student’s brainwaves appear live on screen, before experiencing technology that allowed them to control a ball on a screen using their brain activity.

Students explored a range of careers linked to psychology and examined famous psychological research, considering how psychological studies have had important real-world consequences and applications. They also enjoyed lunch on campus, getting a small taste of what it might be like to be a university student.

Our students were excellent throughout the day. They got fully involved, asked thoughtful questions and embraced every opportunity. They were a real credit to Parliament Hill School.
